For some time now, I have been interested in the complexity of supranational politics--specifically within the European Union. I am also consistently confounded by the methodological and theoretical challenges such arrangements present to most IPE research. I discussed these matters at length in a recent piece in International Studies Quarterly.
Needless to say, I was honored when ISQ editors approached me about doing a "symposium" about this piece-even though I wasn't quite sure what that meant. As many of you know--but some of you might not--ISQ now does a periodic series where a particular article or issue is discussed by authors, select critics, and then is opened for public commentary and discussion. I was very fortunate to have some amazing participants discuss my paper: Thomas Oatley, Manfred Elsig, Stephen Chaudoin, Helen Milner, and Xun Pang all contributed to this symposium.
I would encourage everyone to check out this symposium and all the others they have posted!
